This has been a great weekend! It was Derek's White Coat Ceremony this weekend. His mom Shari and her husband Mitch came down from Idaho. It was so nice to have them here, and to have visitors! The White Coat Ceremony is where the first year medical students officially get their white coats. It would make sense to me to do it at the beginning when they started school back in July but they said they always wait until the first weekend in October to do it so they can fully appreciate how it is to become a doctor. They had the ceremony on Saturday morning, then there was a lunch and a tour of the medical school. It was nice for the parents to see where their children are and to understand what they are going through. Here are a lot of pictures of our fun weekend.

That is so crazy they do the white coat ceremony in the 1st year. Zac didn't have his until mid 2nd year. Either way, it is super exciting to know that you guys have made it through Phase 1 and are onto the next Phases. Hope to see you at the book club meeting tomorrow!

We just got back from our son Stephen's white coat ceremony just up the street from you guys.
In Dental school they wait until the second year before they get them. Our youngest son Kevin was announced to coat his oldest brother, but the school had sent him to Roanoke for rotations:) It would have been cool to have his brother do it though... i was dissappointed. They are interesting ceremonies and impress on their minds how serious and what a wonderful privledge it is to serve others.
Isn't the scenery there fabulous? Salem was pretty.
